The 2023 Textile Palette Exhibition, situated within the beautiful, light-filled Esmond Gallery at The Warehouse Clunes – a stunning building in Collins Place, Clunes, is a must-visit for textile and fibre art lovers.

The theme for the exhibition Time For Stitch arose from the long periods of isolation and separation experienced throughout 2020 – 2021, and the solace that creativity provided textile artists as they navigated their way through this extraordinary time. Exhibiting artists were asked to respond to this experience, or to simply create work that highlights their love of all things connected to textiles and stitching.

Exhibition coordinator and curator Christine Lethlean is a talented textile artist in her own right. Her use of stitching as an art form was nurtured as a child growing up in the Eastern Wheatbelt in Western Australia. Her skill with textiles, surface design and repurposing preloved fabrics, coupled with her flair for working with colour and texture, puts her work in a class of its own. Her pieces are in high demand for those who appreciate quality and owning individually beautiful, one-off pieces.

Since relocating to rural Victoria, Christine’s focus and creative energy has concentrated on teaching artistic design and stitching techniques and by encouraging emerging textile artists to showcase their talents, the annual Textile Palette Exhibition was established in 2016.
